Known for innovation and its clinical excellence, HealthLinc is a forward looking and rapidly growing Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) system that serves Northwest Indiana through a network of 13 clinics and specialty programs in 7 communities. From its roots as an all-volunteer neighborhood free-clinic, HealthLinc has grown to become the premier, whole health community health care provider in northwest Indiana. Through its “Can Do” approach to meeting client and community needs with high quality, accessible care, and unique partnerships, HealthLinc has emerged as an integral part of the healthcare and human service fabric of the community.

 

With a current budget of $54M+ and a team of 500 clinical professionals and administrative staff, HealthLinc delivers a broad range of evidence-based primary care, specialty services and a unique array of non-traditional community services including:

  • Optometry and vision care

  • School-based mobile health clinics

  • Behavioral Health Services

  • College campus clinics

  • School-based telehealth clinics

  • Medical-Legal Partnership to serve low-income individuals with non-criminal civil legal aid problems.

  • Mobile Integrated Response Teams to address the opioid crisis.

  • Clinic-based Pharmacies

  • Podiatry Services

  • Chiropractic Services

  • Reach Out and Read - an evidence-based model shown to build early literacy skills in children whose parents are served by HealthLinc Medical providers.

 

The high quality of HealthLinc's clinical care, its providers and support teams are evident by its achievement of NCQA Level 3 PCMH for all clinics and receiving 100% compliance in its most recent HRSA certification survey. HealthLinc also boasts a new Family Medicine Residency Program, as well as Family Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Pharmacy residency programs and both certified Medical and Dental Assistant Training Programs. HealthLinc is committed to strengthening its clinical, support and administrative infrastructure to promote continued innovation and growth.

 

HealthLinc is a private, not-for-profit, federally qualified health center based in Valparaiso, Indiana. The organization is governed by a voluntary citizen Board of Directors with diverse representation that includes individuals with backgrounds in education, social services, healthcare, business and a broad spectrum of community engagement and advocacy.

 

HealthLinc’s CEO, Beth Wrobel, will be retiring later this year after 22 years leading the organization to its current success. Its Board of Directors has initiated a national search to identify and recruit top-notch candidates to compete to lead HealthLinc into its next chapter of innovation and growth.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

 

As Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will be the highest professional officer of HealthLinc and will be responsible for the organization’s performance - programmatic, administrative, and financial. Key leadership roles will include collaborating with the Board to develop and implement HealthLinc’s strategic vision; stimulating the development of state-of-the-art strategies that position HealthLinc as a regional, statewide and national leader for achieving community impact; guiding, coaching and empowering the executive leadership team; with the Board and leadership team, setting organizational goals that assure a stable future; and, fostering a culture of excellence, service and accountability - both personally and for the organization. As the highly visible primary spokesperson for HealthLinc you will communicate plans and policies to broad audiences and develop and nurture productive relationships and resources deemed essential for the attainment of HealthLinc’s goals and objectives. You will be an engaged and productive member of the community.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Be a seasoned and insightful leader from a community healthcare/FQHC system who has demonstrated organizational success in today’s healthcare marketplace.

 

  • Be a visionary who can look over the horizon and guide an organization, staff, and communities to achieve their potential.

 

  • Demonstrate the highest level of integrity and have a history of building trusting relationships – internally with the Board and staff, externally with communities, strategic partners, and funders.

 

  • Have exceptional political savvy and communication skills and a track record of building and maintaining close partnerships with elected officials.

 

  • Have developed a wide range of relationships to improve/expand services, reduce/contain costs, solve community problems and secure an organization’s future through contracts, partnerships, collaborations, mergers and/or acquisitions.

 

  • Have a successful track record leading strategic initiatives and guiding organizational change.

 

  • Be an innovator who fosters and supports a culture of creativity and risk-taking without sacrificing quality of services or financial stability.

 

  • Have demonstrated business acumen in today’s evolving healthcare environment while achieving both clinical and operational excellence in an organization with strong financial stability.

 

  • Be tech savvy and demonstrate data-driven decision-making including the use of data analytics in the management of organizations.

 

  • Be an authentic person with well-developed emotional intelligence – a pragmatic problem-solver who engages staff and stakeholders to be active participants in any solution.

 

  • Have a philosophy of shared responsibility, collaboration, and accountability.

 

  • A graduate degree in Healthcare, Business, Humans Services, Public Administration, or a related field, preferably with a healthcare administration or non-profit specialization is preferred.

 

  • Have 7 - 10 years of experience in management positions of increasing levels of responsibility in community health organizations or integrated healthcare systems. At least half of that experience should have been in senior management positions. Experience working with/for a Board of Directors is a must.
