The Community: Klamath County is located in South Central Oregon along the northern California border, is surrounded by national forests and wildlife refuges, and is home to world-renowned Crater Lake and Upper Klamath Lake. Often referred to as Klamath Basin, this area of rugged mountains, rolling hills and gorgeous river valleys is home to over 70,000 folks who have chosen a rural western lifestyle. While medical services, education and light manufacturing have replaced agriculture and forestry as the economic engines of the area, the legacy of these natural resource industries coupled with outdoor activities that dominate recreation and leisure time result in a combination of rugged individualism and social conscience that create a unique sense of community.
Tucked into the Klamath Basin at the southern tip of Upper Klamath Lake, the sunny city of Klamath Falls is the County’s biggest city and the regional center for services and trade. Klamath Falls provides access to large-scale stores, historic downtown shopping and dining, state-of-the-art medical facilities, and a strong education system from public and private pre-schools through Klamath Community College and Oregon Institute of Technology offering four-year and graduate programs. All four seasons are alive and thriving in the region. Add to that, welcoming neighbors and affordable living and you begin to get a picture of the place to be – Western living at its best!
